LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land, and continue to do so today. Brampton’s performing arts venues are located on the Treaty Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the traditional territories of the Anishinabek; Wendat; Haudenosaunee; and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples. We also acknowledge that Brampton resides within Treaty 19,referred to as the Ajetance Purchase. We recognize the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples on this land, and the many First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and other global Indigenous people that call Brampton home. We are grateful to continue telling stories on, and about, this land, and by doing so, honour and respect its first inhabitants. We are committed to implementing responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action, and recognize our shared responsibility to address ongoing injustices.
